Shōga Neko Matcha is a female founded brand by Puerto Rican Ariagny Martínez Vellón, which seeks to promote a calm and balanced lifestyle through the ritual of matcha. After becoming a certified Holistic Health Coach and spending three years educating about matcha culture, she proudly presents Shōga Neko Matcha as her signature brand. Each package contains only the highest quality matcha, harvested in Mie, Japan, so you can enjoy all the benefits and delicate flavor of the healthiest drink in the world.
What is matcha? Matcha is a type of powdered green tea that comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant. Ceremonial grade matcha, which is Shōga Neko's grade, is traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony and is cultivated under shade during the final weeks before harvest. This increases the production of chlorophyll and amino acids, particularly L-theanine, giving it a naturally smoother and sweeter flavor. Also, the L-theanine in matcha promotes relaxation and mental focus by counteracting the stimulating effects of caffeine, providing a gentle and sustained energy boost without causing drastic energy crashes or jitters.
Why the name Shōga Neko Matcha? In Japanese mythology, cats are symbols of good luck, protection and fortune. For our founder, enjoying the matcha ritual with her rescued orange/ginger cat Koda has been medicine for the soul, hence the inspiration.
