The chasenis a traditional bamboo whisk used in the preparation of matcha in the Japanese tea ceremony.
The chasen is used to mix the matcha powder with hot water (160*F) so that the lumps are dissolved and a creamy layer of froth is achieved.
Steps to prepare a new chasen:
1. Before using it for the first time, rinse it with warm water without soap. Do not immerse it completely in water, just rinse it to prevent the bamboo from weakening.
2. Soak the chasen bristles in a cup of warm water for a few minutes to soften the bristles, bloom the chasen, and prevent it from breaking during use.
Cleaning and care:
After use, rinse the chasen with warm water without soap, soap can penetrate the bristles and affect the flavor of the matcha. Allow the chasen to air dry, upright with the bristles facing down, do not return it to the original packaging to avoid breakage or mold.
